Uber published updated vehicle requirements for its Comfort, Exec and Lux categories. The updated requirements already apply to new vehicles added in London, and Uber says they apply to new vehicles added in the rest of the UK from 19 October 2026.
Why it matters
Vehicle eligibility can materially change the economics of a private-hire plan. A car that works for one category, city or date is not automatically eligible for another.
What to check before committing money
- Your city and the category you intend to drive.
- The exact make, model, age and other eligibility criteria on Uber’s current list.
- Whether the rule applies to a new vehicle being added or an existing vehicle already on the account.
- The full finance, insurance and operating cost — not only the platform category.
